Man, this winter vacation has been amazing–the busiest I’ve ever had! I did something every day. Which is why I’m only finishing blogging about it now.
On Wednesday I met Doug in Oslo, where we walked up and down Karljohansgata (where else?) before settling for lunch at a café/diner whose name eludes me. (We had bagels. That was in the name…)
It was great chatting with him; I actually kinda felt kinda at home in that diner, actually. It’s more or less what I’m used to doing with friends back in California–go chill at Starbucks or Borders or Elephant Bar. Or maybe it’s because we’re both from California and he gets me.
Anyway, it was pretty chilly in Oslo that day, so we opted to go back to Sandvika (I guess for some reason I thought it’d be warmer there…Actually we agreed to watch a movie, which didn’t happen. ‘Cause I’m flaky.) and ended up in the shopping mall. I know, funny, right? My day together with Doug and we end up shopping…
On Thursday the family and I packed and headed to Numerdal for the rest of break. We got there at nightfall and drove a snowscooter up to the hytte. Pretty cool.
We skied quite a bit on the Friday and Saturday we were there. I think I’m finally beginning to get the hang of it, but I still can’t turn or go downhill without spors. Also learned how to play poker from Joakim…I suck miserably at it. I remember someone telling me it was like the western version of mah-jong. It’s nothing like mah-jong. Anyway, the losers of the game had to go take a bath out in the snow–naked. So, that’s what we did. (I think I’m beginning to like it actually: isbading, snøbading…what’s next? Isbreenbading?)
But yeah, that was my winter vacation. I need to sleep now. Full day of school tomorrow.
