The Flossy Flossy

Keeping it “on the real” the best I can.

“Ciao”

I remember when Wednesdays used to be the worst day of the week. Smack dab in the middle of the week with Friday seemingly so far away. But now Wednesdays are a godsend. Only two Italian classes in the morning; Wednesdays are the eye of the hurricane.

So today was beautiful because of two things. You know that token cute guy or girl at the local bar or cafe that you think is unbearably cute and secretly fantasize about having a romantic evening with only you’re too shy to strike up a real conversation with him or her outside the realm of what s/he’ll be serving you? Javel, imagine my surprise and glee when I received not only a pleasant greeting, but a wink! I just about melted. I never understood how a heart could flutter until today.

Currently I am at Girasole, hos Quinn, Acacia and Kayla. We had a very koselig evening, with some excellent food courtesy of Quinn and Taboo.

And today, I realized how great my life was. It’s almost unbelievable when I try to put everything down to words. I don’t think it’s ever really struck me that in 19 years, I’ve lived in 4 different countries. How many people are lucky enough to say that? China, USA, Norway, and now Switzerland. And boy, the world is different! It just gets me more and more excited. I’ve never read Dr. Seuss, but I am excited about the places I will go!

I am also ecstatic to finally be able to say that I have a job. An official one! Despite only working an hour per day, I think it’s a great opportunity. I get to learn clerical support skills, interact with the postmen (no sexual implications there), and pick up some Italian. Plus, I don’t have to work crazy/insane hours or shifts. One more step closer to my dream of working in Nordkapp this summer.

Allora, that’s it for now. Another chunk of my newfound life here in Svizzera. I love my life. I love my friends, I love my family on all three continents, I love where I live, and while I would complain about not having a kjæresten, for some reason it just doesn’t seem so huge an issue at the moment, and it’s a comforting relieving thought.
