Plan Bs/Morocco, Pt. I

Question: What is your opinion on making plan b’s? A strange thought struck me today: if you’re already setting up backup and contingency plans for yourself, are you already subconsciously expecting failure? For example: would it be wise to even have a “backup plan” when applying for an internship? If you really want one…why would a plan b be necessary?

Back to the canonical track (being my life), I know I haven’t updated in an eternity. But believe me it’s been a good thing–I’ve been very, very busy!

For starters, I just spent 11 days traveling around in Morocco. :) Wow. What an experience. Even after having lived on three continents, nothing could prepare me for the chaotic labyrinths of Morocco. The sights, the smells, the sounds, the haggling…so many things I had never seen/smelled/heard/did! (I’m a terrible haggler, apparently. I’m one of those people who leaves the store thinking it’s too expensive only to give in and come back five minutes later and buy it anyway.) Every venture into the medina became an expedition. At times, the compactness was overwhelming, but I suppose that’s what makes it a photographer’s dream.

Geographically Morocco is a gem. I was mainly surprised by how green everything was. At some points the rolling hills bore more of a resemblance towards Scotland than somewhere in Northern Africa…

Since I was too timid to bust out my camera in the medina, a lot of the photos I took were portraits. Luckily, there were a lot of beautiful girls on hand. (And my roommate and I were the only two boys in the group. Lucky us, right?) Pictures of Moroccan landscape will follow in Part II. :)
